You all knew this article was coming. It’s impossible to do an Oscars recap without addressing the big flub that happened with the Best Picture award. We will say this: The Oscars definitely went out with a bang when La La Land had the Best Picture Oscar taken away and given to Moonlight.

‘Moonlight’ and ‘La La Land’ both had some big wins.

As those who watched the entire ceremony know, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway took the stage to announce the Oscar for best picture. It’s the biggest award of the night and the big finale of the program. Beatty looked a little confused as he opened the envelope revealing the winner, but most people thought he was just hamming it up for the big reveal. He announced La La Land, and the filmmakers happily took the stage and started making speeches.

However, viewers could almost immediately tell something was up. Josh Horowitz, who produced La La Land, paused mid-speech as staff members with headsets and different envelopes drifted behind him. Horowitz then passed on the news–Beatty announced the wrong winner. Instead, Moonlight won best picture.

Denzel Washington Made a Couple’s Dream Come True at the Oscars

[dropcap]E[/dropcap]verybody’s talking about that big Oscars mishap (you know the one), but there were also some hilarious moments from the awards ceremony last night. One came when host Jimmy Kimmel got an unsuspecting group of tourists to come to the event. But it was Denzel Washington that sealed the deal with some humor.

The tourists were on a Hollywood tour bus when they found out they’d be going to an Oscar dress exhibit. However, they weren’t told that the dresses were on real live celebrities who happened to be at the Oscars at the time.

They walked in near the stage and Jimmy Kimmel greeted them. The looks on their faces when they saw that they were at the Oscars were pretty priceless. But the best moment came when Denzel Washington “officiated” a wedding.

A couple of the tourists were engaged, and Jimmy Kimmel asked the woman of the duo who her favorite actor is. She pointed at Denzel and said, “That man right there!” Denzel got up out of his seat to come pronounce her and her fiancé man and wife.

“I’ll have a scotch and soda, thanks.”

The nominees for the 2016 Golden Globes were just announced! The show is on January 10th and will be hosted by three-time host Ricky Gervais.

In case you didn’t know, the Golden Globes are hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn and are known to be a “boozy affair.” Sounds fun. Especially if you have to sit though speeches from winners in 25 categories — 14 in film and 11 in television.
