‘La La Land’ Best Picture Oscar Ripped from Grasp by ‘Moonlight’

Horowitz very graciously said, “I’m going to be really proud to hand this to my friends from Moonlight,” before the Moonlight stars and filmmakers took the stage.

Jaws dropped. Tweets flew. All in all, this was Hollywood mayhem. Jimmy Kimmel tried to cover by making a joke about Steve Harvey, who announced the wrong Miss Universe in 2015. However, to say the program ended abruptly is an understatement.

So how did this mistake even happen? Apparently there are two sets of envelopes, one on each side of the stage. When Emma Stone won best actress, her envelope came from one side of the stage. However, the one on the other side saying the same thing was unopened, and was mistakenly given to Beatty. One of the PricewaterhouseCoopers employs overseeing the process is apparently responsible for the mistake.

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]fter the big Oscars screw-up over the weekend, viewers everywhere joked, “Well, someone is getting fired.” Turns out those predictions were true. PricewaterhouseCoopers just gave the boot to the accountants responsible for the mix-up.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a professional services firm, has been involved in the Oscars for years. They are responsible for tabulating voting results, preparing envelopes with the winners inside and handing them off to the presenters.

The disaster unfolding onstage.

As everyone now knows, somehow the wrong envelope got to Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty when they were presenting the Oscar for Best Picture, resulting in a fiasco. Now PwC has revealed that the two accountants handing off the envelopes, Martha Ruiz and Brian Cullinan, will never work at the Oscars ceremony again.

However, the two will retain their jobs at PwC. In fact, the pair currently are under PwC’s protection. Their personal addresses were posted online, and PwC assigned security to help protect them from any rabid Oscars fans.

Denzel Washington Made a Couple’s Dream Come True at the Oscars

[dropcap]E[/dropcap]verybody’s talking about that big Oscars mishap (you know the one), but there were also some hilarious moments from the awards ceremony last night. One came when host Jimmy Kimmel got an unsuspecting group of tourists to come to the event. But it was Denzel Washington that sealed the deal with some humor.

The tourists were on a Hollywood tour bus when they found out they’d be going to an Oscar dress exhibit. However, they weren’t told that the dresses were on real live celebrities who happened to be at the Oscars at the time.

They walked in near the stage and Jimmy Kimmel greeted them. The looks on their faces when they saw that they were at the Oscars were pretty priceless. But the best moment came when Denzel Washington “officiated” a wedding.

A couple of the tourists were engaged, and Jimmy Kimmel asked the woman of the duo who her favorite actor is. She pointed at Denzel and said, “That man right there!” Denzel got up out of his seat to come pronounce her and her fiancé man and wife.

Denzel, can we hire you now for our next birthday party?

“I’ll have a scotch and soda, thanks.”

The nominees for the 2016 Golden Globes were just announced! The show is on January 10th and will be hosted by three-time host Ricky Gervais.

In case you didn’t know, the Golden Globes are hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn and are known to be a “boozy affair.” Sounds fun. Especially if you have to sit though speeches from winners in 25 categories — 14 in film and 11 in television.
